New Zealand's Liontamer Investments has unleashed Tiger Series I – a five-year closed-ended trust based on the company's proprietary Asian index.

"We're encouraging younger clients to view Asia as a long-term part of their portfolio, as it's likely to be a driver of world growth," said a spokesperson. "They should keep rolling over at maturity and ensuring they pick up the growth bursts as they occur. We believe in the long-term growth story for the region."

The product returns 100% of the Tiger Index – comprising India and China (25% each), and Japan, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan (12.5% each) – with one year's back-end averaging. An early maturity feature repays NZ$1.50 per unit if the net asset value reaches 150% of initial capital in the first three years. Assets are provided by Barclays Bank.

Minimum investment is NZ$5,000. The product closes on 8 July.
