Liontamer goes live with its first capital protected product

Liontamer MSCI World Index Trust 1 is Liontamer's first product tailor-made for New Zealand investors.

Liontamer is a newcomer in the funds management sector in Australasia. The initiative was borne out of the conviction of a group of experienced finance professionals that they could revolutionise the way in which investors go about investing their hard earned savings in this part of the world. We hand picked the best business partners in their respective fields to achieve our ambition. We are proud to be here today.

Capital protected products dominate the investment scene in Europe. They now account for the vast majority of flows into investment funds. These products are offered in various shapes and forms (wrappers) depending on the type of issuer and country in which they are offered.

Capital protected products are not completely new in this market. We have seen various attempts by banks and brokers at introducing the concept with varying degrees of success. Liontamer has looked long and hard at the best wrapper for New Zealand investors. We decided to offer our products under an Australian unit trust structure which provides unique advantages to New Zealand resident investors. Our structure also allows us to respond rapidly to changing investor needs and market conditions.

Liontamer MSCI World Index Trust 1 is designed, amongst other things, as a core holding within the international equity allocation of a diversified portfolio. It is a hold to maturity investment with an annual return and index linked return offering together 100% of the growth in the MSCI World Index but none of the downside (which we have seen too much of in the last 3 years!). We chose the MSCI World Index as it is typically the benchmark for active and passive international equity funds. We believe our products will offer what investors want but were unable to get. We wanted to provide a simple and low cost (no management fees) solution accessible to every investor in the same way as value based airlines made travel accessible to everyone. We think we have achieved this.
